Effective communication is one of the most written about, most studied, and most talked about topics in the coaching world. “It’s not what you tell them – it’s what they hear.” I have that quote from Red Auerbach inscribed in the coaching book I carry regarding his take on the importance of effective communication. No amount of knowledge of the sport will matter if the coach is not able to find the proper method of delivery.

Code of ethics is a tool that establishes minimum standards. It sets a code of conduct for coaches as they advance in their careers. It’s a tool that inspires coaches to share shared beliefs and do their best work. Sports Safety in Coaching
For all sports, achieving personal goals and claiming sweet victory requires training hard and playing even harder. But when athletes push themselves too hard, they risk injury that can make them unable to play the game they love. That is why sports safety is so important. While we helped athletes get better from sports injuries, sports medicine team wants to do our part in helping prevent sports injuries in the first place.

Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done and they help themselves and others to do the right thing through many different skills. Good leadership skills are important for a coach of athletes of any age because after their parents their coach is the biggest influence that they have, if a coach is seen to be a good, strong leader, it will inspire them to work harder to get to where they want.

Provides a comprehensive guide to the practical application of governance principles to amateur and professional sport organizations operating at the community, state/provincial, national, and international levels. It presents a balanced view between accepted practice (20 hours) and what contemporary research evidence tells us about a range of governance principles and practices.
